June 6 and 7 2015 update

This weekend is very busy with one of our favorite repeat customers, Carol in Annapolis, calling on us again.  For Saturday June 6, we are doing a pig and smoked turkey breast for her. As on the other post: Days End Horse Rescue Farm June 6 2015 we have the mobile kitchen going also on June 6.  On June 7 we have 2 pigs being roasted, one is a pickup for John in Ellicott City and we have a wedding for Rebecca and David in Westminster.

150 lbs. of pulled pork butts

For the past several years, we have smoked 150 lbs. of pork butts for the Beltway BBQ Showdown held by Prince Georges County Parks and Recreation.  This is cooked, not for the KCBS sanctioned BBQ competition but is provided to the families who attend the competition.  Here is the link for the Beltway BBQ Showdown.

Our second VEEP casting call gets a cancellation

Oh well, better luck next time.  Cold weather SUCKS!  That caused the rewrite of the VEEP episode that we had been requested to participate in.  The original writing was a campaign BBQ and we were providing the grills and food.  Now it is being rewritten as a pancake breakfast.  Yep, cold weather SUCKS!

Another casting call from VEEP

The Maryland Pig Roaster has been contacted once again to participate in the filming of an episode of VEEP, the HBO show starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus.  We last participated in an episode filmed in Dec, 2012.  This time around, MPR is teaming with the Lisbon Town Grille to supply grills, steaks, hamburgers, hotdogs and all the fixins’ as the prop food for this episode which has Ms. Louis-Dreyfus in her role as Vice President Selina Meyer campaigning for a second term. The plan is to have us cooking the steaks, hamburgers and hotdogs in the background while Ms. Louis-Dreyfus is flipping steaks in the foreground.

You can see our other post here:Maryland Pig Roaster debuts on HBO’s VEEP April 21, 2013 at 10 PM. In this episode, we provided a whole roasted pig and sides as prop food for the episode.
